APs are not updated via c9800

C9800-cl

Current version 12.17.03 updated about half a year ago. Decided to update now. When updating to any version, two points (AP4800 and C9105AX) are not updated. The status is download and a cyclic reboot occurs. If you return c9800 to 12.17.03, the points connect immediately, as if the new firmware is not even installed. How can I update the AP? There is access to the AP via ssh.

This behaviour are known bugs (plural tense).  There are several bugs which will cause the APs file system to hit critical level (almost >90%).   Like the following:

I will be progressively updating this thread if-and-when I find more.

 - Start by checking if the involved AP models are (still)  supported in the targeted or used controller software version :

Post the output or a complete once reboot cycle, so that we can see what happens

Other AP's of the same models are updated without problems.

 - @Denis Negik   - Yeah indeed , the version should  be no problem here ; so for the problematic APs

1. What version are you trying to update to?
2. Have you reviewed the release notes for that version?
3. Have you reviewed:
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/field-notices/741/fn74109.html
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/wireless-lan-controller-software/221869-safely-upgrade-access-points-avoiding-i.html
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/catalyst-9800-series-wireless-controllers/220443-how-to-avoid-boot-loop-due-to-corrupted.html
4. As @marce1000 says share the complete console log from the failing APs.  Save to a text file (.txt) and attach the files here - do not paste the logs into your reply (too many lines).
Also run radioactive trace on the WLC for the AP MAC addresses while they try to join and collect those RA traces and attach here too as that might also show why they're failing.

ps: you say you were using 12.17.03 which does not exist - presume that should be 17.12.03?

For info - these bugs were all supposed to have been resolved in 17.12.5 and 17.15.3 but we can already see more in the soon to be released 17.12.5 APSP1 notes at https://bst.cloudapps.cisco.com/bugsearch/bug/CSCwo99496
so for now rebooting all APs (preferably by power cycling) before upgrading is the only workaround to prevent this.
