Hello,

We have Cisco 3500 Wireless controller and 16 AIR-AP1852E

Controller connected to switch and port configured as a trunk

All IP Vlan are configured Cisco switch 3850

We have total 2 Wireless network configured over WLC

1.Staff WiFi             Vlan 10 in switch

2. Corporate  WiFi   Vlan 20 in switch

we have a printer directly connected to switch port and assigned  to vlan 20, now we have a problem from Staff WiFi mobile users not able to discover the printer which is connected vlan 20.

But i can able to ping the printer and with laptop i can able to access the printer as well

kindly help me to find the reason and finding a solution for this.

Does the printer support mDNS? Or bonjour?

Otherwise most printer discoveries are only limited to the single VLAN, without putting the IP in

Thank you Haydn,

Your answer was very helpful.
I check the printer there was a feature bonjour, but i did't find anything named mDNS.
Printer model no HP LaserJet Enterprise 700 color MFP M775.
if it's support mDNS any additional configuration is required.?

Here is the deployment guide for bonjour with the WLC

You will probably also need to make sure that multicast routing is working on the wired side as well

Hello Haydn,

With the new Bonjour solution in Cisco IOS-XE, there is no need to enable Multicast on Wired or Wireless client VLANs anymore.

Besides configuration guides, we will be soon posting several new contents on following page providing complete deployment details:

thanks,
rahul.

thanks for that.

Hello,

Sure you can turn on the Bonjour services on your Staff WiFi and Corporate WiFi network address.

Please find below the configuration book for new Cisco DNA Service for Bonjour guide:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/cloud-systems-management/network-automation-and-management/dna-center/1-3-1-0/user_guide/cisco_dna_service_for_bonjour/b_cisco-dna-service-for-bonjour_user_guide_1-3-1-0.html

The SDG Agent configuration chapter provides sample configuration to enable Print services on the Cisco Catalyst switches.

Please note, you need minimum of 16.11.1 IOS-XE release on Catalyst 3850 series switch to implement policies with new CLI syntax...

thanks,

rahul.
