Backup VM Cisco WLC

So, we were looking for a guide or best practices on how we properly backup Cisco WLC VMs. Btw, it is hosted on a ESXi environment. I have not seen any documents available from cisco, so we were wondering if our current backup solution (veeam) should work or are there any recommended solutions or guide on how we go about it.

You can do snapshot of the VM

or 

Daily or weekly back of the config also good - so you can build new VM and restore from backup.

Other option is to backup the startup config from the WLC, this can be done by many NMS
