Basic Wireless Bridge question(s)

I am using two autonomous 1242's to bridge two wired networks (one AP is root, the other is non-root, no user wireless clients are supported). In this configuration, aren't the AP's bridging at the Layer 2 level (that's what bridges do, right)? From my testing, it didn't seem to matter to the network what IP addresses I assigned to the AP's -- the network was bridged.

If, however, I want to be able to access the AP's https:// interface via computers on the network that the APs are bridging, then do I simply need to assign IP addresses on that same network to the AP's? What about the default-gateway address?

Robert,

You are correct - all connections thru the AP's are ALWAYS layer 2. Connectivity to the AP's themselves are layer 3.

You need to give the bridge group interface (BVI) an IP address, and can set your default-gateway address to your next hop layer 3 device. However if you have a flat layer 2 topology, and the same IP subnet, you do not need to have a default-gateway.
