I received some c9120AXI-E wireless access points that were returned when we shutdown our Istanbul, Turkey office. I'm based in the US so naturally I'm getting a regulatory domain issue that is causing these APs to not join my 9800 WLC.
Saw some posts here that this particular model of AP doesnt have the ability to be modified for country code. You purchase the AP with the country code built in.
I'd like to re-use these here in the United States if possible.
Can anyone help me out with this question? Thanks.

well, first and foremost the recommendation would be to contact your Account Manager or Partner, elaborate them the situation and I hope they will be able to assist you to some extent - may be with some discount (upto them and if available).
If you don't have the option, then configure Country Code Turkey along with US in the WLC. Create a separate AP join profile with country Turkey and a corresponding Site tag with that AP join profile. At the end assign that new site tag to those specific APs.
Now what are the drawbacks of using APs with different RD? Every single regulatory domain is associated to certain sets of channels and powers. In other words, you might end us seeing same model AP, however the Turkey one is exhibiting 15dBm power whereas US one is giving 17dBm on same power level.

Hi @david.fletchall - the bit missing from @Saikat Nandy reply is:
In most countries it will be illegal to use APs with the incorrect Regulatory Domain and Country settings.
As he says the channel and power settings vary so you could end up breaching the local regulations by doing that.
Doing that is also not supported by Cisco.
Detailed AP channel and power tables can be found at:
