Hello all,
when I will update the C9130AXI EWC (with also 2800i and 1850i connected) to the version 17.03.04c,
I get an error:
CiscoEWC#install activate
install_activate: START Wed Nov 24 14:54:49 UTC 2021
Nov 24 14:54:51.204 %INSTALL-5-INSTALL_START_INFO: R0/0: install_engine: Started install activate
install_activate: Activating PACKAGE
FAILED: install_activate : Predownload of 17.03.04c.0.77 has not finished
Nov 24 14:55:09.657 %INSTALL-3-OPERATION_ERROR_MESSAGE: R0/0: install_engine: Failed to install_activate package , Error: install_activate : Predownload of 17.03.04c.0.77 has not finished
It doesn´t matter if I update with the GUI or CLI!
Also the command output from "show wireless ewc-ap predownload status" is
Predownload Status: AP Image Predownload Failed
Predownload Error: Configuration Error
Any help for me?
Thanks and best Regards
Carsten

I cannot see any issues in the process you have followed. I have add multiple successful upgrades in the past.
I would recommend to reach out to TAC for further support, if you do not have any valid support contract then you can try below method.
1. Isolate the WLC AP by Shutdown all the associated AP's.
2. Upgrade the WLC by HTTP. (From GUI)
3. Once all upgraded then go to GUI Administration>>Software upgrade set the image server and and path and SAVE.
4. Now start connecting the other AP's.

When you are running EWC it doesn't store any AP image in the WLC AP as the resources (Memory, Storage etc) are low compared to a physical WLC. You need to download the AP service Pack and make it available in a TFTP server so other AP's can download the corresponding image.

Hello Arshad,
thanks for your reply and help, but I know this!
I downloaded the following C9100 EWC AP bundle image "C9800-AP-universalk9.17.03.04c.zip"
..and unzip it and make the folder available with TFTP Server. In this folder are all the AP files
But like I write, the update process stop with the mentioned Predownload error!
Do you have additional ideas to help?
Thanks and best Regards
Carsten
