I have a 1100 Cisco AP setup as a repeater to a 1231 AP. The Signal meter on the clients indicate 100 percent strength on the 1100B AP (repeater) and 0 percent for the 1231 AP (Parent). However, they are associating with the 1231 AP and ignoring the 1100 AP (repeater).
The Repeater is associated with the 1231 parent and the parent shows the 1100 as associated as well. They are on the same network and use the same channel, SSID and encryption. I can connect VIA wireless to the network and log into either AP. I can ping both access points.
How can I get the clients to use the repeater and ignore the parent. I tried disabling Aironet extensions. But no luck there.

You could try disabling the lower data rates and requiring higher data rates.

The some of the clients are 11B others are 11G. The Parent is an 11G the repeater is an 11B.
If I disable the lower rates on the 11B that will prevent the 11B clients from getting on at all unless they can connect at 11Mbps. It will also force the 11G clients to connect at high rates. Failure to connect at those rates will cause them to not connect at all.
In which case I can understand why they do not connect.
