Cannot add some used APs to WLC2500

Hello,

I move to a new location some 2 years and someone from this forum helped me to setup my WLC2500 to the new location. This was a used WLC from the old location with different ip range.

He also helped me and showed me how to add some Aps which I did and it worked fine.

Now I have been asked to add some additional APs which were used at out old location.

I am trying to follow the steps from the link below.

https://integratingit.wordpress.com/2018/07/01/reset-cisco-ap-to-factory-defaults/

It works fine but the WLC does not see the AP.

Please see attached file what I can see when I console into the AP.

This is a Cisco AIR-CAP1602E-A-k9

Any help will be much appreciated.

Thanks

Tazio

The AP is getting an IP address via DHCP - it appears that DHCP option 43 isnt being used.

It is resolving CISCO-CAPWAP-CONTROLLER to 10.21.68.1 and 10.21.68.2 if these are not your controller then you need to update either DHCP option 43 or the DNS entry to point to the WLC.

Very good blog here https://mrncciew.com/2013/03/17/ap-registration/ on the AP join process. Also highly recommend bookmarking this blog as its helped me a few times.

Additionally to what @Haydn Andrews wrote, you are probably also affected by this (once the DNS/DHCP issue is sorted): https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/field-notices/639/fn63942.html
