Cannot connect 1532E AP to 2504 Controller.

Hi all,

I currently have a problem on my hands I've been trying to fix for a couple of days now, I will emphasise that I am a newbie when it comes to Networking technologies, however I am trying my best to learn.

I currently have a Cisco 1532E access point and I am trying to connect it to a Cisco 2504 Wireless controller, the AP is powered via a POE port on the front of the switch.

I have added the AP to the local MAC filter on the WLC - and I believe I am very close to having this working - however there appears to be one last error I need to get over!

The AP is currently in a loop of repeating the following message.

*Jan 25 14:53:31.000: %CAPWAP-5-DTLSREQSEND: DTLS connection request sent peer_ip: 10.14.205.1 peer_port: 5246
*Jan 25 14:53:31.467: %CAPWAP-5-DTLSREQSUCC: DTLS connection created sucessfully peer_ip: 10.14.205.1 peer_port: 5246
*Jan 25 14:53:31.467: %CAPWAP-5-SENDJOIN: sending Join Request to 10.14.205.1
*Jan 25 14:53:49.627: %DTLS-5-SEND_ALERT: Send FATAL : Close notify Alert to 10.14.205.1:5246
*Jan 25 14:53:49.719: %LINK-5-CHANGED: Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to administratively down
*Jan 25 14:53:49.719: %LINK-5-CHANGED: Interface Dot11Radio1, changed state to administratively down
*Jan 25 14:53:50.087: %LINK-5-CHANGED: Interface Dot11Radio0, changed state to reset
*Jan 25 14:53:50.087: %LINK-5-CHANGED: Interface Dot11Radio1, changed state to reset
*Jan 25 14:54:00.087: AP has SHA2 MIC certificate - Using SHA2 MIC certificate for DTLS.

Any help would be much appreciated, thank you.

Apologies if this is in the wrong community, I couldn't think where to post.

You need to first get a proper PoE injector or the AC power cable. You can't use the 2504 ports for these outdoor AP's.

Hi Scott,

Thanks for the hasty reply - is there any documentation you would possibly have a link to prove this? So I can use it for documentation purposes?

Brandon.
