I have QTY 31 Cisco AP 3802i AP's currently connected to my controller. My license is for 50. My new AP's get an IP address in the correct IP range and can ping the controller no problems. The exact same model of AP's were connecting just fine last week, but not today.
Nothing has changed in my network and I noticed that when I am consoled into the AP during setup it gets a bunch of settings then gets stuck at the line that wants me to cancel Auto Setup... which pisses me off lol... I don't want to cancel auto setup but it just sits there forever... Can anyone help me troubleshoot this please??

I hope this helps,
To convert a Mobility Express AP into a CAPWAP AP, you must change its ap-type from mobility-express to capwap, though the CLI, as given in this procedure:
-
Connect to the Console Port, Telnet or SSH to the AP.
-
Login to the Mobility Express controller console.
-
In the Mobility Express controller console, use the command apciscoshell to connect to the AP console.
-
Login to the AP console using the username Cisco and password Cisco. Both are case-sensitive.
-
Enter enable.
-
Enter the command ap-type capwap, and confirm .
Once the AP type is CAPWAP, the AP will not start its Mobility Express controller functionality and does not participate in the Mobility Express master AP election process. This AP can then be deployed in a physical wireless controller-based network (i.e. in a non-Mobility Express network). There the AP will join that controller, and as the image on the controller will be different, the AP will request a CAPWAP image from the controller, reboot, and rejoin the controller as a CAPWAP AP.

It seems to me that the AP is in some Controller mode instead of a CAPWAP mode?? I just want these dang things to auto provision to my existing 5520 WLC.

It looks like Ap's are shipped with Mobility Express image.. otherwise it should accept "show version" command.
3800 & 2800 series doesn't work as standalone mode , they don't have standalone image, but they can be used without controller by using ME(mobility express) image. where one AP will be acting as a master controller and all other would be joining it.
try to upgrade an AP to lightweight image (8.4.100.0).
we have same AP's with lightweight image (8.4.100.0) and WLC with same code and everything is working fine.
