Hi guys, im having some trouble here. I dont think my cards are faulty (4 cards in 2 6500 switches), it would be a great coincidence.. but here is my problem:
I connect directly to my WISM cards, boot them (insert them), I see it turning on, enabling services, and as soon as the "username:" prompt apears, the Status led turns off and I lose console. This happens with every card, so I guess theres something wrong im doing.
Do you guys know any clue?

By the way, issuing the "session slot 1 pro 1" didnt work either

Can you pull a "show wism status" ?
For the session to work, you need to have configured the "wism service-vlan < vlan >" and a dhcp scope for it. Then you should be able to session in through the fabric.

The status says serive port online. But 0.0.0.0 ips. i already enabled dhcp and service port vlan, just as documentation says. :S

can you post the dhcp scope,l3 SVi and the wism commands, and a show vlan brief?

Sure!
ip dhcp excluded-address 192.168.10.1 192.168.10.2
!
ip dhcp pool wism-service-port

wism service-vlan 192

Anyway.. I SHOULD be able to console directly to it right?
12-20-2011 09:26 AM
yes you should be able to console directly in. So long as you are set for 9600/none/8/1 with no flow control.
For the fabric dude issue the command VLAN 192. In the 6k you need to explicitly create the L2 VLAN

Yeap, VLAN 192 was already created...
anything else I could try? Could it be an IOS problem or something?

what chassis are you using, 6509/6513?
12-20-2011 09:52 AM
6509E
Cards are in Slot 1 and 2, in both 6500
12-20-2011 10:16 AM
Can you kill the power to slot 2, and see if the WiSM in slot 1 will come up? Could be a lack of power, but I would think it wouldn't power up at all, but you never know.
no power enable slot 2 IIRC

You can also type 'exit' at the remote prompt to end the session

Ok, so still not getting DHCP to the service port. You'll want to debug the DHCP process, and reset the card to see if we can see why it's not happening.
