I met a problem resently that in a chemical plant they need wireless but laying cable is somehow prohibited. Thus may I just cascade one 1240 on another one using Yagi antenna (Since 1240 has 2 antennas I can use another one to have the coverage)?

If you want to associate one 1240 AP with another, one AP needs to be root AP and the other needs to be configured as non-root AP. This is the configuration you should apply.

You cannot use the two antenna connectors for the same band for your "cascade."
The two antenna connectors (for the one band)are there for "diversity" .. better coverage of the same area.
If you added the second band (802.11a, another pair of antenna connectors, four total, 2 X 2.4GHz, 2 X 5.6GHz), then you could use the 802.11a in a point-to-multipoint configuration (for your "cascade" / backbone) and then keep the 802.11g for your user access.
If you only have two connectors, they are not used to cover different areas, or to create an uplink.
Good Luck
