Catalyst 9800 CL WLC Maximum APs per site 100

Hi

The documentation on the Catalyst 9800 CL says maximum APs per site is 100

Is this correct ?

Does this mean i can only have 100 Ap's in a single office this seems small what would i do with an office of 200 AP's ?

Thank you

Hi I assume that you are referring to maximum number of FlexConnect APs per site, Below from Cisco document @marce1000 shared "For FlexConnect APs and related remote site tags, if seamless roaming is required, the limit is still 100 APs per site tag "

However, it must be noted that starting from 17.8.1 code in 9800s the scale has been increased and that now stands at 300. Below from 17.8.1 release notes

"From this release, the flex site site capacity has been scaled up to accommodate 300 APs and 3000 802.1x clients."

Small Cisco 9800-CL supports 1000 APs and 10,000 Clients.

I think you are referring to Cisco 9800-L hardware appliance, which supports

Maximum number of access points

250, 500 (with Performance license)

Maximum number of clients

5000, 10,000 (with Performance license)

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/catalyst-9800-series-wireless-controllers/datasheet-c78-742434.html

If you are referring to Maximum APs per Site Tag

orm

Maximum number of APs per site tag*

C9800-80, C9800-CL (medium and large)

1600

C9800-40

800

Any other C9800 platform

Equal to the maximum number of APs supported

Refer Cisco 9800 Best Practices Guide: https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/catalyst-9800-series-wireless-controllers/guide-c07-743627.html
