Dear all,
as for the 2X00/3X00 model we would like to use Priming procedure on the new out-of-the-box Cat9115AX to prime the AP with:
- static IP parameters (Address, Mask and Gateway) ;
- AP name;
- static primary controller IP (which is a Cat9800);
It should be possible also if the AP has no connection to the Controller, correct?
CCO docsare not clear since it mention that APs have to have a L3 connection to the Controller which is not the case (APs are primed in labo and only after connected to the infrastructure where is running the Controller).
I've tried to prime an AP but I've no chance to access console for configuration since AP is booting, activating radio and then it shows continuosly the following messages:
- "waiting for preferred method" and
- "restarting DHCP on wired0"
Am I missing something?

Yes, it can be done manually or automatically.
DHCP Option 43 is the preferred method because it requires less effort.
Manually configuring the APs requires many man-hours.

Hello Leo,
Thanks a lot for the confirmation... that was what I'm looking for
Obviously on large scale APs deployment this approach is not scalable... but on few could be OK especially if DHCP/DNS services are not managed by ourselves
