Dear community
We have necessary options configured on DHCP so AP connected to network automatically discovers WLC and join.
By default it becomes part of default AP group and all SSIDs are active on it.
Is there a configuration to switch Access-point "Admin Status" to disable after first join so i can add it to necessary AP group and then switch AP back to Admin state enable. Or any othes way how to let AP to join WLC but not to let it work until admin confirms AP's configuration

Hi Aydin,
There is an Out-of-Box option, but in my experience this is not working as it should. Idea is that when AP first joins WLC, it will be placed with out-of-box radio profile and their radios will be set to admin down. When you move AP to different AP group, radios should be automatically enabled, but for some reason this is not always the case.
You can try with one or two APs and see if it works for you.

Best practice is to start your WLAN IDs at 16 or above, that way they are not part of the default AP group.
As Jeza says the Out-of-Box method is available. The other option would be to stage the AP before installing it by connecting to the WLC somewhere those SSIDs wouldnt matter, put it into the correct AP group and then ship to site to be installed.
The 9800 WLCs have the ability to define the AP Tags based on regex or mac before they online so they get the correct tags (AP Groups) as soon as they come online
