Change AP cloud controller instance

Kav2

Hello,

We have taken over a new client, who has an existing Meraki setup. Their current Meraki access points are connected to their old IT providers cloud controller instance.

We need to move the AP's to a new instance of Meraki cloud that we have created, but when trying to add the AP's it says they 'already exist'. We dont have access to their old IT providers cloud controller, nor are they being co-operative.

What are our options/process?

All options require that an administrator of the existing org initiate. Since they are not friendly - you have no options.

Normally you would do something called an "org split", where you take an existing org and split it into a new org.

If the existing org administrators wont co-operative, and you don't feel like taking court action then your only remaining choice is to buy all new APs.

Wow, OK.

Yeah it's not an org split as such, it was an IT provider to client relationship. They are obviously not happy about losing the client and are not co-operative.

Im a bit stunned that there is no recourse even though you have physical ownership of the AP's...

Take the existing priovider to court. Chances are once they get the summons they'll change their tune.

This is assuming everything is as you describe.

Its a small deployment, would be far cheaper and easier to just replace the AP's.

We might go with another product, being decided.

Thanks for the info.
