Cisco 1242G access point - IOS compatibility

Has anyone yet tried to get the Cisco 1242G Access Points running with WLC IOS Release 8.2.110.0? A customer wants to replace part of its access points to the 2800 models, but these acces points require the IOS Release 8.2.110.0 as a minimum. He wants to keep in the first step parts of the old 1242G access points, but they are not listed in as "supported" for this release (last official supported with 8.0.x). But probably the access points even work under this release. Has someone tested it?

Hi,

The 1242 will not work with 8.2.110. You will have to remain on 8.0 until you have replaced all the 1242s..

1240 can only be supported in 8.0.X.X.
The best option is to convert one of the 2800 into Mobility Express. This turns the AP into a WLC. So use the 2800 as a WLC and let this AP manage all the 2800 while the 1240 can stay with the controller running 8.0.X.X.
