How to backup running config for  Cisco 5500 WLAN Controller  using putty or Tera term.

transfer upload mode tftp
transfer upload datatype config
transfer upload filename <GIVE THE CONFIG A FILENAME.EXTENSION>
trans upload start

If you just want a copy of the config on terminal then:
config paging disable
show run-config startup-commands
