Cisco 5508 Licensing for HA ?

We currently have a 5508 running in prod, licensed for 50 AP's.

I also have another 5508 as a spare that I would like to setup in HA config. It is currently licensed for 25 AP's.

Can I use this as an HA secondary or does it also need to have a 50 AP license on it ?

I know I can buy an 5508-HA appliance but that means more money. Was hoping I could use my spare.

Any help would be appreciated.

With 5508s it is mandatory to use the HA SKU or have at least 50 AP licenses on a regular controller to act like one, so yes you need to upgrade to 50 AP licenses.
