Cisco 9300 Switch Missing Wireless Setup Icon

Spidey's Curse
Visitor
Hello,

I am trying to configure a C9300 switch for wireless capabilities.
I'm currently running Cisco IOS XE Software, Version 17.06.05. I have enabled the wireless controller, however, I am trying to add a WAP and struggling to get this figured out.
The wireless controller software is also at 17.6.5 so everything is updated.

All the YouTube videos and KB articles Ive read all show a wireless icon at the top of the WebUI then I should be able to click on and get basic/advanced settings for wireless setup, but that is completely missing.

Am I totally missing something here?

I'm currently running DNA Advantage and Network Advantage. Is this a licensing issue?

Also, this may be a stupid question, but when I try to find an answer for "9300 wireless controller configuration" pretty much all results come back with 9800 information.
The wireless controller for the 9300 is also for the 9800 as you can see in this link

So Im assuming I should be using the same troubleshooting steps to configure the wireless controller for the 9800, is that correct?

Any help would be very much appreciated. Thank you in advance!

  >...Cisco Catalyst 9800 Wireless Controller software on the Cisco Catalyst 9300 switches must be provisioned and deployed on the switch using Cisco DNA Center, and it cannot be configured as a standalone controller. For mode details, see the Cisco Catalyst 9300 Series Switches Hardware Installation Guide.

How to Ask The Cisco Community for Help

Thank you for the reply.

So, I was actually able to do everything in your blog post. At the bottom of your page you say "In the next section, I will cover configuring WLC and AP joining to WLC."
I think this is actually the section that I need, but I cant seem to find it on your blog.
Could you please provide that link?

Thank you in advance

Once you get the "controller" functioning on your 9300, then follow the 9800 guide to setup the management and wireless management interface.  Once you have figured that piece out, the easiest way is to connect the ap to the same vlan as the wireless management/management vlan.  Also make sure the the ap you are trying to join to the controller is supported on the code version.  Search "Cisco wlc matrix" to validate compatibility.

Maybe you know this already but just to make sure...

Presume you know that autonomous WLC on 9300 is end of life after 17.3 as per
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/wireless/catalyst-9800-series-wireless-controllers/guide-c07-744299.html?
So if you're trying to use it on 17.6 then only SDA mode is supported:
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/solutions/CVD/Campus/cisco-sda-design-guide.html
So you'll be configuring that on DNA Center only.
