Cisco air-2702i-uxk9 not responding

itrm
Level 1
Level 1

We had a Cisco air-2702i-UXK9 access point which was behaving abnormally. It used to connect to the WLC for a few minutes and after that, it used to get disconnected from the WLC. I have connected the console cable and have reset using mode button. Now it is showing the following when trying to boot. I am unable to get into the ap prompt as it is not responding to any key of the keyboard.

Here is the error:

*Jun 2 12:57:35.835: %CAPWAP-3-DHCP_RENEW: Could not discover WLC. Either IP address is not assigned or assigned IP is wrong. Renewing DHCP IP.

The AP is in a network where it can discover the WLC.

I assume either DHCP is not offering an IP to the AP or option 43 isn't configured. More information:

https://mrncciew.com/2013/03/17/ap-registration/

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. But, primarily I need to access the AP through Console and I am unable to access the device to reconfigure and update firmware also. No key is responding when connected through Console cable.

did you try another laptop and new console cable ?

This console cable is working with other devices on this laptop

Make sure you have configured your serial console correctly. APs don’t like if you have flow control or parity enabled.

Checked and found both are negative

Then it should work.
But anyway, if the DHCP is correctly configured and the AP can reach the WLC, then it will automatically do a software upgrade. You don’t need to do this manually for CAPWAP devices.

Thanks, I also had been facing the same issue with my AP CAP2702i-D-K9. But, after turning Flow control and Parity to negative the AP, I easily get into the console to AP.
