Check this:

Q. What are the inline powering options for the Cisco Aironet 1230AG Series? Is the Cisco Aironet 1230AG Series 802.3af-compliant?

A. The Cisco Aironet 1230AG Series supports local power or Cisco Inline Power; inline power is provided via a Cisco inline power-capable switch or by using a Cisco Aironet Power Injector. The 1230AG Series does not support 802.3af.

Right now Access point Cisco Aironet 1130AG supports 802.3af

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6087/products_regulatory_approvals_and_compliance09186a0080370202.html#wp36323

thank's for your hint, but i was refering exactly to this answer in the q&a's. the question was if there are considerations to support af in the future ;-)

recently i've talked to an cisco system engineer and he told me that 802.3af won't be supported in the future (for aironet 1230) because of hardware restirictions within the aironet 1230 series.

thank's a lot for your time,

kind regards

They will work with Cisco-proprietary inline power and, if you use a special dongle cable to reverse the pairs, on an 802.3af compliant PoE hub (PowerDSine for example).

I am testing the 1232AG - Dual radio. POE.

The 3560-PWR switch says it is compatible with the 802.af standard as well as the Cisco "pre-standard" POE. Will it run the 1232AG over POE?

I seem to remember an issue with the "cisco standard" poe not being able to run a dual radio 1232AG due to the AP needing more than 6 watts. Is this only an issue with an older non-802.af switch (like a 3524) or will the newer 3560 POE switch run the 1232 with dual radios with no problem?

Thanks
