The new IOS release for 9800 controllers stated that the 3700 series AP should be supported, but when I try to move it to that version code it does not work.

Is there a special requirement to migrated to 17.9.3? Currently running 8.10.183.0
here is the logging info :

Just out of curiosity... when you upgraded/downgraded, did you commit and does the version show up as 17.9.3 on the controller?

- What do you mean by that sentence because these software versions do not point to the same controller platforms (aireos vs 9800) , for 9800 they should work on 17.9.3 (again) , (or previously 17.3.x)

Yes, I mean that I'm moving APs from AIRE-OS to IOS. Currently the APs are running on a controller AIRE-OS version 8.10.183.0, and I'm trying to migrating them to a Catalyst 9800 controller running 17.9.3. Do you know if Is there a special requirement to migrated the 3700 series APs from 8540 to a 9800 IOS version 17.9.3?

- Note sure perhaps there is an 'aireos image gap' ; you may try to for instance install the latest 8.10.x capwap image manually on an involved AP and try it on the 9800 afterwards ,

You may need to try upgrading the 3702 APs to 17.3 code first prior to migrating to 17.9.3 . This is what is stated in the release notes as a direct upgrade path :

@Prince.O Perhaps , in the observation of the support being re-introduced for 3700 series in 17.9.3 I did not read it as having 17.3 needed first to have the AP use the 9800 with 17.9.3 immediately (perhaps I am wrong) ,

I just connected an old 3702 that was joined a while ago to a controller running 8.5.x Here is what I see on my 9800 for that ap.
Software Version : 17.9.3.50
Boot Version : 15.2.4.0
Mini IOS Version : 8.0.110.0
Keep in mind, this ap was just sitting around and was never connected to a 9800 on any code version. I just connected this up to actually see if the ap would join and it did.

@marce1000 I agree. It should not require being on ios-xe and @Scott Fella just confirmed it should work even on 8.0 train to 17.9.3.
With that being said , there may be something else up and I think a TAC case may be needed to investigate

I used the ISSU Upgrade (HA Upgrade)

Glad that worked out for you.... I learned that the hard way, but in the lab and the code reverted back:)

Good to know , have a checkup analysis of the controller configuration too with CLI show tech wireless and feed the output into https://cway.cisco.com/wireless-config-analyzer/ (very useful!)
