Cisco Prime 3.0 upgrade, new devices and token-based licensing model

Hi All,

I have a customer who have Cisco Prime 3.0 with 1025 lifecycle licenses. There are used 990/1025, primarly for accesspints. Now they would like to add additional devices.

- Over 100 pieces of Cisco Routers 4451

 - More then 1000 of switches 3500, 3600 series.

1. I am confused as to how should I approach upgrade of Prime VM and licensing. I understood that there is change in licensing model form version 3.1.3 to token-based licensing model. Should I buy more lifecycle licences first for the exiting version and then use generation of a one-time grandfathered license or there is better approach to it ?

2. There is going to be an significant growth of devices. At the moment it looks like there is installed VM (Express) with some tuning done (4CPU, 16GB RAM and 600GB HDD). Is this enought to boost resources i VM to support more devices or I should take a backup of the database, run a new installation, choose STANDARD installation which supports up to 6000 wired devices and then restore the database.

Thanks in advance

Regards

Piotr
