Hi everybody!
For one of my clients I need to Upgrade the software image of a vWLC from the release 8.0.115.0 to 8.5.182.0.
I wanted to know if I have to make some Intermediate upgrades or if it is direct.
Also, if I have to make intermediate upgrades, should I reload the switch after the first intermediate Upgrade and then another reload for the final release (8.5.182.0)?
What about software predownload on the APs? If I need to do the intermediate upgrade first, all the APs must get the intermediate predowloaded releases first? or I can skip the predwnload and then predownload the finals release.
thanks everybody for the help!

You can upgrade directly to Release 8.5.182.104

Ready carefully this doc up side down.
But, Yes. If you change wlc version, it will reboot, AP will also reboot and upgrade.
Lucklly, you dont need to.
But read this document, you may find impotant information.

Thanks for the reply (i mistyped when I wrote about reloading the switch..I meant the WLC).
so the workflow would be:
- uploading an intermediate software image (eg: 8.3.x.0)
- predownloading the software to all the APs
- rebooting the WLC
- uploading the 8.5.182.x
- predownloading the software to all the APs
- rebooting the WLC
correct?

You can go from 8.0 to 8.5. Then, you dont need to use intermediate version.
so the workflow would be:
- Load the AIROS 8.5 to WLC
- predownloading the software to all the APs
- rebooting the WLC
-finish

Make sure you also check the AP comptability before upgrading to latest version.
