Cisco WLC 2504 - Assigning Vlan identifier on existing interface

I got a working WLC connected with interface in vlan 1 of switch and on WLC its configured without vlan. I need add another virtual interface in other vlan. 

I added vlan identifier (vlan 1)on the existing interface on WLC and changed switchport to trunk by allowing all vlans.  I loosed access to WLC right after assigning vlan identifier on WLC.

I did this so that I can add other interface in other vlan.

Any idea why I loosed access ?  Does restarting it will fix it ?

   - Check logs on the switch after changing wlc-port to trunk , check logs on the controller too , look for error-situations , if any.
