Compatibility question regarding B domain access point

Hi guys,

I have a question regarding compatibility with AP series 1242, 2702-B* and our 5508 controllers running 8.0.121.0

*Exact PID is AIR-CAP2702I-B-K9

We recently bought some B domain access points and they are not able to download the correct firmware:

Downloading this version is not permitted when AP is configured to -B domain Image download aborted

In another discussion thread I saw someone recommending switching to newest 8.2.131.0 version as they run the B domain APs withouth troubles.

As per my research I found out that 1242's are no longer supported with that version so I am wondering if there exists any version which supports the new B domain access points while 1242's are still supported?

Appreciate any help on this.

Thank you

The answer is no, however, raise a TAC case.  Maybe they can knock up an engineering fix in 8.0.X to enable "-B" Regulatory Domain.

Is it possible to install the requested image on the AP manually to get it working with that controller version?

Not possible.

According to the following compatibility matrix the last support for 1242s is version 8.0.x

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn81.html#98367

From 8.0.132 on -B domain is supported:

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn80mr3.html#pgfId-1298773

So the answer is yes, it is possible to run 2702-B-domain AP with 1242s on WLC with 5508 hardware.

I think I go for 8.0.140.0 as this seems to be the latest 8.0.x
