If I have a mixture of wireless Access Points, Cisco 350 and 3Com 8000, can I use a common external antenna from one or the other vendor? For example can I use Cisco antennas with 3Com Wireless Access Points?

It is recommended to only use antennas that have been recommended by the manufacturer. The reason for this is that each manufacturer has tested their wireless devices with their antennas so they know what their antennas are capable of and what they are not capable of. If you use a third party antenna that is not approved of by that manufacturer, most likely they will not troubleshoot certain problems with you because you are not using antennas that they have tested and they will not know how to troubleshoot antenna problems. Cisco antennas have different connectors that are specific to Cisco products. If you use a Cisco antenna on your 3Comm you will have to get an adapter for the connectors.
