Configure Cisco 2600 AP to be a rogue

I want to configure a Cisco 2600ap to a rogue AP so that I can detect it on the wire with the WLC. I already know and understand the configuration part from the standpoint of the WLC.  I already have a switchport that is trunked ready for the Rogue AP.  What I cannot find is any examples, steps, docs to guide me in actually setting up the 2600 access point so I can detect it.

Hi David,

You do not need to have any specific config on the 2600 AP. The WLC will detect any AP not either directly connected to it or a mobility group member as a rogue. If you do not have another WLC, you can configure the 2600 AP as a standalone AP and broadcast SSID's on it.

Hope this answers your question.

So I can grab an old 2600 that we are not using, do a factory reset and do nothing more than connect the 2600AP to a trunk port I have designated and the AP that I have in rogue detection mode along with the WLC will detect the presence of that rogue access point on the wire?  I'm probably over simplifying the process but as a POC for PCI compliance  I am looking to be able to detect and alert whenever there is the presence of ANY access point that is connected to our network via a wired connection.

Hi David,

Let me explain with a little more detail. Rogue detection happens only over the air. This can be done using local mode AP's or monitor mode AP's. Detection does not happen over the wire. What happens over the wire is rogue identification, that is to know if the rogue is connected to your wired infrastructure. So unless rogue detection is happening over the air, rogue identification over the wire will not happen. The below link explains different facets of rogue detection, identification and containment really well:
