Dear Community Members,

Actually the the AP am working on is :AIR-CAP3502E-E-K9  to be connected to Cisco 2960 POE Switch.

1. what configuration do i need on the Switch and AP LAN Port to Power the AP from the POE Switch Port.

2. Do i need to associate the AP manually to the controller :Cisco 5508 controller or automatically

The easy way is to connect the AP to an access port on the same VLAN and the WLC management interface. Makes sure there is dhcp. The AP will discover the WLC and join. Once the AP joins you can move it to another VLAN if you like.

Here is a good document to read

Just to also note. If your AP is in local mode, ten it should be connected to an access port. Usually when an AP is in a remote location and you will be placing traffic on the remit end and not tunneling the traffic, you confide the AP in FlexConnect mode and the switchport is a dot1q trunk.

thanks Scott,

I have a peculiar situation here.

I have a two story building the middle is open from top to bottom

my challenge is basically on placing the access points to avoid interference in between the floors since its an open floor.

the floor dimension is 30m x 32m for Ground Floor ,1st Floor , Second Floor

Jude.
