configuring VLANS

I have a Cisco 1200 ap and a 350 wireless card, i would like to setup VLANs.

1st of all what is a native vlan and do i need one?

I have VLANs setup on my LAN switches and when i connect my AP to the switch everything works fine. I set the LAN switch port to be trunked and then i setup two vlans 30 and 40 on my ap. It works fine for about 2 minutes, i'm able to get an ip address from vlan 40 and access the network. A minute later i'm off the network.

Native VLAN is nothing but the default VLAN. The access point or the bridge native VLAN (the default VLAN) must be set to the native VLAN of the wired trunk. This allows the access point or bridge to receive and communicate using the Inter-Access Point Protocol (IAPP) with other access points or bridges in the same wireless LAN ESS. It is a requirement that all access points and bridges in an ESS must use the same native VLAN-ID.
