Controller-less/ embedded controller WAP

Hello people, I have never worked with cisco wireless stuff but recently I have been tasked to provide connectivity to a room, they were initially requesting 8 ports .

Now they require wireless connectivity, this whole setup is layer 2, I basically want to extend the connectivity of a layer 2 switch into wireless connectivity, this is all for an offline environment.

Can you suggest me APs and also if this is possible?

Hi

It is perfect possible. Get one AP with Mobiilty express because it is easier to setup as it has web interface. Plug it on the switch and setup switch port as trunk. The switch probably have an interface vlan for management. You can use the same vlan to manage the Access Point. Put it on the trunk as native in case you are not using vlan 1.

If you want to keep the wired and wireless client on the same vlan just put it on the trunk also and use the same DHCP for both.

Ap model depend on your budget so I will not recommend.

I'd rather go for a newer WiFi 6 Catalyst 91xx series AP running EWC on AP ( better than ME on the older AC wave 2 APs) and setup for your basic requirement should be quite straightforward. Something like C9105AXI for a starting point:

(Note the C9105AXW wall-mount variant does not support EWC)
