DHCP Assignment Issue

Hi Team,

I am running in one issue. Few days back bought WLC 5508 for my customer who is currently running Aruba.

I powered on  the WLC which is in HA and setup the basic parameters like , DHCP Server IP under the management interface and added one Radius server entry.

I connected the AP to some random port on Switch which was in vlan 2 and my AP picked up the ip address from DHCP Pool.

But client who is connecting to that AP is not getting the IP Address. Client is getting authenticated but not receiving the IP Address.

I run the "debug client <mac Addr>" command and "debug dhcp packet enable" command on WLC whose output i will add in next few mins.

DHCP Proxy is put under Global state. (because in future i will be using the WLC as DHCP Server for certain SSIDs)

Below is WLC connectivity details

AP-------Switch---------------Router-------------Switch------------WLC

                                                                        |

                                                                        |

                                                                    DHCP server/Radius Server

My DHCP server and Radius server is same.

I have Aruba live in the network and at the same time i am testing the WLC as well.

What could be the issue? why my clients are not getting the IP address from DHCP Server.

Hi Guys,

The issue has been resolved. I have enabled the DHCP Pool on WLC and tested the setup in same configuration. My clients were able to receive the ip address from WLC.

I run the wireshark capture on mirrored port of the uplink where my router is connected and found that router did not forwarded the DHCP Packet to dhcp server , also i did not see any logs in DHCP Server as well.

I then shifted the WLC at the other  side of the router along with DHCP and the issue got resolve.

(Router is not under my control hence could not run even a single command on that)

Cheers!!!!

Raj
