Hi rahulchauhan,

please review the "whats new" section at the release notes

8.5

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn85.html#whats_new_release_85b

8.3

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn83.html#pgfId-1534270

As i know 8.2 were a early feature release and no further releases planned.

To choose the right image review the TAC recommendation list.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/support/docs/wireless/wireless-lan-controller-software/200046-tac-recommended-aireos.html

And also compare your WLC, AP, MSE/CMX and ISE version using the following matrix to avoid incompatibilities.

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html

Best Regards

Patrick

Hello rahulchauhan,

The main difference between the versions are features and HW compability.

Here are the release notes for the versions you asked about:

8.2.170.0 https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn82mr7.html

8.3.140.0 https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn83mr4.html

8.5.135.0 https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/controller/release/notes/crn85mr3.html

Cisco have marked 8.3 and 8.5 as recommended on the 8540. If your APs allow it I would go with 8.5.135.0 for the latest features and bug fixes. I have a couple of customers running 8.5 without any problems.

But it comes down to what features you need. Also always check the list of known bug so you dont trigger one in your deployment.

regards,
Jonas
