Hi
We have 5520 WLC. In one of our buildings we use AIR-AP1852I-E-K9 model and now one of these died because of a power failure.
If we order i new AIR-AP2802I-E-K9 model to replace AIR-AP1852I-E-K9 is that OK?!
Or we must use the same model as other APs in the building?
AIR-AP2802I-E-K9 will be near other AIR-AP1852I-E-K9 (roaming)
Same WLC.

A general rule of thumb is to keep the models the same in the same area. Another reason to replace it with a 1852 is that all x800 APs are already announced for EOS/EOL. I would not spend more money on a better model compared to all the others when it has to be replaced anyhow in the mid future.

- Also check : https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/compatibility/matrix/compatibility-matrix.html , controller may need software upgrade(s) to accomodate new ap model(s) , and check if the ap-model is supported on the particular controller too.

Problem is that AIR-AP1852I-E-K9 costs the double what AIR-AP2802I-E-K9 costs.
I don't know why is that, plus that the 1852 model is not available!!, only 28 model is available to order

When the 1852 died, did you get it RMA-ed?

The AP was bought 4 years ago so i don't know if it still eligible for RMA?

Cisco AP 1852 is still covered under Limited Lifetime Hardware Warranty -- And do not be afraid or shy about RMAing the 1850s.
There have been growing number of 1800 operators reporting hardware failures with them.

What AP model do i need to order as a replacement of 1852 model?
By the way i got my RMA approved and got some money to order new model AP 9105 or 9115.
9115 is expensive so i tend to order 9105 is that a good replacement?

For 1852, 9105 will be an apt replacement. Make sure you order the ceiling mount variant of 9105.
I would have recommended 9162, but unfortunately your WLC will not support this AP.

Do you mean that the 1852 model ceiling mount is not suitable for 9105?

Here is my 2 cents. I'm not a fan of the mix and match. You should of purchased support so that you are eligible for replacement. Now if you don't have that, my suggestion is to find an 1852 to replace that one ap. You other option, is to find a replacement and that should be similar to what you have now. Will it cost more, sure, but you don't want to replace the ap with a model that isn't the right replacement. You also have to make sure that the code you are running on the controllers support the ap you want, or else you might have to upgrade your environment and or purchase an ap that will not work. The matrix will help you figure that out.

If cost is your issue after reviewing this, then find a replacement on eBay or another source.

We run 5520 with 8.10 and we have 9120 APs which were replacement to 2600 model.
Buy used products is not an option for us. Our supplier does not have 1852 any more.
I have 170 APs 1852 in production which i can't change all now.
The only option is to change the defected APs (5 in this case) with other model, the supplier suggested 9105 which is the cheapest in the 9100 series and enough to do the job.
The question still, will the cieling mount of 1852 model fit the new 9105?

Well you made your decision, so you should buy the mounting kit you need with the ap which should be free. You can also search the install guide for your existing ap and the new ap to determine if the mounting is the same or not.
