Do not broadcast a particular SSID in the default AP group ?

Hello! We have a customer whose access points are all in the default AP group. They want now to create a new SSID and only broadcast it on particular APs.

Is it possible to prevent this SSID from broadcasting in the default group or the only way is to move all the access points in a new customized AP group which will introduce a downtime?

If you create this new SSID with WLAN ID greater than 16, then it won't advertise in default group APs. You have to use custom AP group to advertise those SSID, so you can select which APs needs to part of that group as well.

Keep in mind if you using 2504, you can only create SSID with WLAN ID 1-16 only. So that will be a limitation in that platform.

I have a WLC 5508 runing 8.2.141.0

Presently we have created one SSID and it assigned to four APS with different AP groups defined as per location.
We have created a guest WLAN and it is default AP group and assigned its dynamic interface but the SSID is not seen/broadcasted
Please advise how to go about this as we need the guest WLAN to be seen from all APs

What is the WLAN ID number, if it is greater than > 16 you have to use AP Group to advertise it. default group only advertise wlan 1-16

If WLAN ID is < 16, then check how many APs in "default group", those AP should advertise it. If no APs in default group, then you have to add this guest wlan for all AP groups created. in that way it is advertised by all APs

The  WLAN ID is greater than 17

Please note that guest wlan has its own subnet.

If we add  guest wlan for  all AP groups created what VLAN will users connect too

Thanks

You need to assign it same interface/subnet, under multiple ap group.

eg: if vlan 10 is the interface for guest, then you need to map vlan 10 interface to guest SSID under different AP group config
