I have heard that there will be a new IOS that will work with the Airespace controllers. I thought I heard that only be for the 1230s and 1130s would be capable of this, but I wanted to clarification.

The Cisco Centralized WLAN Solution, which uses LWAPP, was the first centralized WLAN system to use the split MAC.

the 1000 series and the 1200 series. 1200's will need to be converted to LWAPP mode by ios ver 12.3.7 JX

So I assume this is the 1230s only. I am also guessing from your response that no 1100s will support this LWAPP mode. Correct?

Hi,

currently it is possible to migrate Aironet APs to support LWAPP

you can clarify this in the following link:

Upgrading Autonomous Cisco Aironet Access Points to Lightweight Mode

http://www.cisco.com/en/US/partner/products/hw/wireless/ps430/prod_technical_reference09186a00804fc3dc.html

It might be appropriate to add to this thread the following questions:

1. Once an access point (1100 or 1200) has been converted to operate as a lightweight AP is it possible to revert it back to its original state i.e. a Thick AP. If so what are the steps.

2. Is there a cost associated with converting the AP i.e. if you have the correct level of IOS on the AP but you want to make the AP a lightweight AP.

Cheers,

Rafiq.
