Hi following is steps for basic config. I wonder if all vendor device require Option43? thanks
In order to register the LAP to the WLC and for basic operation of the LWAPP wireless network, complete these steps:
Have a DHCP server present so that the APs can acquire a network address.
Note: Option 43 is used if the APs reside in a different subnet.
Configure the WLC for basic operation.
Configure the switch for the WLC.
Configure the switch for the APs.
Register the lightweight APs to the WLCs.

If you looking to plug and play you LAP/WAP to get join WLC automatically Option 43 DHCP option tell LAP/WAP to register with WLC
if no Option 43 configured in DHCP, WAP does not know where to register.

NO, not all vendor devices require option-43
the Cisco AP has several mechanisms to discover a controller
- lan-broadcast
- dns lookup of specific dns-records
- dhcp-option 43
- preconfigured addresses (primed using local console, or from previous configuration using wlc)
other vendors have matching mechanisms, but option-43 will not be the only option you have

They are Cisco WLC5508 and AP 1131, 1142 and 3502/3602.
Do you mean some of vendor or model have to need option 43, and others do not?
