Domain login with wireless

Hi

as far i know if i  try to login to the domain with wireless connection in a laptop instead of wired i get the error message that domain not available, this is basically because you are not connected the network .i.e your wireless card only connects to the network only once you login.unlike the wired connection it connects to the network even before login. if you have already logged in through wired connection and try login wirelessly it takes the credentials from the cache. can some one please suggest me is there any thing we can do to overcome this.

thanks

Karthik

Hi karthik,

When a laptop gets to the msgina screen (the windows logon screen) you are logging on to
the cached windows OS, after that is when the wireless card comes up. And you just get
access to the wireless network , you are NOT logging on to the domain
(so things like scripts from the domain controller to map a drive will NOT work)...

You would have to do something called machine based authentication (if your doing PEAP for
example or even EAP TLS) . If your doing WPA1-PSK, WPA2-PSK, or even static WEP this will
NEVER work...So with that approach when the OS bootsup the NIC card is activated and authentication
is complete and when you login, you are connected to your domain.
