I have a 1240AP and I am getting the message that the Ethernet port failed to initialized is this a hardware failure or is there a setting that needs to be changed?.
Reload Command.

The system has been encountered an error initializing
ethernet port. You may need to check hardware
The system is ignoring the error and continuing boot.
If you interrupt the system boot process, the following
commands will reinitialize ethernet, tftp, and finish
loading the operating system software:
ether_init
tftp_init
boot

What is the switch model is connected to the AP? Are you using PoE or power injector/power brick?

It give me the same responce if it is connected with power injector or connected to any of our Switch which are 3Com right now it is connected to a cisco SWR2008

So when you do the command "sh ip interface brief" the FasthEthernet0 is showing up/up or up/down or down/down?

Interface IP-Address OK? Method Status Protocol
BVI1 unassigned YES DHCP down down
Dot11Radio0 unassigned YES unset administratively down down
Dot11Radio1 unassigned YES unset administratively down down
FastEthernet0 unassigned YES other up down

I've never seen this issue before. Could it be that the switches you are using have their port and duplex setting hard-coded?
03-11-2010 01:17 PM
nope double check that one and tried diffrent switches

I do pray you have a valid Service Contract because this is the next thing I can think of. RMA.

that is what I was thinking thank you for you time

Thank you for your patience.

Easiest thing is to connect your laptop to the ethernet port of the AP and see if you can initialize the port or else like Leo said.... its RMA time:)

I found solution specified the configuration in interface, basicly is
#enable
#configure terminal
Entramos en la interfaz
#interface FastEthernet0#speed 100
#full-duplex
