You need to console to standby and check.

I know this is an old thread, but maybe it can help others:
You have to look for your standby WLCs redundancy mgmt IP:
show redundancy detail
Peer Redundancy Management IP Address............x.z.y.w
then ssh to x.z.y.w and login with (probably) the local admin credentials,
you are in the right direction if you see in the prompt "standby":
(WLC01-Standby) >
and then
show udi or show inventory

Thank you for posting this, it was very helpful to me. With fuel costs being higher than usual, your post saved me time & money!

Pardon my necromancy in resurrecting this post but Google led me here. I went looking, found an answer, and am back to report this command will give you the answer.
show redundancy peer-system statistics
Edit: This appears to only work in post 8.5 code train possibly... it didn't work on a 5520 running 8.5.131

Hi,
seems "show license udi" from active box will show serial number for both active and standby.
No need to activate the standby console.
