Hi all,
having a little problem with a 1200 series AP. It upgraded OK and everything was fine. Until I tried to upgrade the IOS, which it kempt on failing on the upgrade (IOS = lastest version).
So I upgraded in the command line. now the thing only boots up to the boot loader. I've tried a few IOS's for the 1200 but all says mismatch when I try to boot it from the flash.
Any ideas people on how to fix this problem and as to the the lastest IOS not being accepted?
Thanks all,
Stu.

You may have run into a corrupt version of IOS. To load a new version, follow the steps under the "Recovering From a Failure" section of this URL.

The 1200 AP has been upgraded but wouldn't let me upgrade the version from the web browser. When I upgraded the verion from the command line it failed to boot up.
Now I get the boot loader:
C1200 Boot Loader (C1200-BOOT-M) Version 12.2(8)JA, EARLY DEPLOYMENT RELEASE SOF
TWARE (fc1)
TAC Support: http://www.cisco.com/tac
Compiled Wed 12-Feb-03 15:23 by hqluong
with the following:
The system is unable to boot automatically because there
are no bootable files to boot.
anyway to fix this problem?
Thanks...

Hi all,
I've managed to fix the problem with this little document:
That recovery is for AP's that have been/are IOS that need to have the image reloaded.
Thanks for the help all!!!

Hi Stuart,
I am having the same problem, since last friday, When I reboot the AP1200 it says the same as you said here.
I have tried with the link u have mentioned.
after releasing the mode button, it syas that:
Dlwnload default IOS image tftp://255.255.255.255/c1200-k9w7-tar.default
examinging image...tftp://255.255.255.255/c1200-k9w7-tar.default: no such file or directory.
failed to open archive file tftp://255.255.255.255/c1200-k9w7-tar.default.
The system is unable to boot automaticaLLY BECAUSE THERE IS NO BOOTABLE FILES TO BOOT.
My laptop ip is 10.0.0.2 or AP1200 ip is 10.0.0.1
am using cross over cable between AP1200 and laptop, coz with normal cat 5 there is no link at all.
I am very much upset and not happy at all, Can you please guide me with your recent experience, or can check where am doing wrong????
best regards

No problem,
here is what I did:
I downloaded the latest IOS for 1200 ap and changed the file as show in the document.
Then I copied the file into the tftp diretcory.
Changed my IP address on the laptop to 10.0.0.15/24
loaded up the tftp server (solarwinds tftp (free))
connect the ap to the laptop via a cross over cable. and connect via the concsole too (this way you can see the ios being uploaded and installed).
now power up the ap whilst holding the mode button in. keep it pressed in for 30 secs
Let go...
It will now connect to the tftp server and upload the file (c1200-k9w7-tar.default)
Once it has uploaded it will unpack the files, which you can see via hyperterminal.
Hope this helps you out.
-----------------------------------------------
From what I can see it is not connecting to the tftp server or the ip address on the laptop is not in the range specified in he document (10.0.0.2 to 10.0.0.30)...
Later!
Stu..

Hi Stuart,
Many thanks for your reply. I have managed to load the IOS image via laptop. Let me tell you what was wrong, on my laptop, files were hidden in folders that why, tftp server were not able to see them and saying that no directory found or no file found.
I have been through the instructions many time, but that small point wasted my many hours.
But one always learn from their experience.
Any way, I am happy that at the end it all works,
I thank you once again for your link you have mentioned and for all your great help and replies.
best regards
