flash space with AireOS upgrading

Hello, we have wlc 3504 whose ios needs to be upgraded. Do we need to check flash space size to make sure there is enough space before upgrading ios? If new ios can replace old ios so that old one will be deleted automatically, we do not need to care the flash size. How do you think about it? Thank you

No need.  The built-in script will do all of this.

The AireOS has two firmware partition.  Both are used to store firmware and can be "flipped" to use the other in case of emergency.

Thank you! The current version is 8.5-. We want to upgrade to the latest one 8.10.162 directly. If the latest one does not work, we will re-upgrade the earlier version or original one without thinking about the space issue. Is this a right thought? I was told the new upgraded ios is primary one, and the original one become backup. If this is the case, how can we control which one is primary one if we want to change back?

yes  8.10  straight upgrade - as mentioned read the released notes ( AP compatibility matrix)
