Frequent 802.11b Interface Resets on 1142 Access Point

Hello,

recently (since around 10 days or so) one of our 1142N access points has started intermittently resetting its 802.11b interface.
The log messages on the WLC always look either like this:

06:04:15 2016 AP's Interface:0(802.11b) Operation State Up: Base Radio MAC:cc:d5:39:xx:xx:xx Cause=Reset on transmit completion. Status:NA
06:04:11 2016 AP's Interface:0(802.11b) Operation State Down: Base Radio MAC:cc:d5:39:xx:xx:xx Cause=Reset on transmit completion. Status:NA

or like this:

21:20:34 2016 AP's Interface:0(802.11b) Operation State Up: Base Radio MAC:cc:d5:39:xx:xx:xx Cause=Indicates that while the radio state should be updated on controller, no reset should be reported. Status:NA
21:20:32 2016 AP's Interface:0(802.11b) Operation State Down: Base Radio MAC:cc:d5:39:xx:xx:xx Cause=Indicates that while the radio state should be updated on controller, no reset should be reported. Status:NA

As you can see, the interruptions are fairly short, but they happen a few dozen times per day and we have some USB WiFi adaptors in use that tend to lose connectivity completely as a result of this behavior.

We're using a AIR-CT2504-K9 WLC running 7.4.140.0, the AP in question is an AIR-LAP1142N-E-K9 with with Boot Version 12.4.23.3 and IOS Version 15.2(2)JB5$.

I read in a different thread that the issue is related to TPC and it was suggested to set it to "Freeze"—I only see a "Fixed" setting in the WLC interface, however, with selectable values 1 to 5. Should I be using this setting? If so, which value would be correct?

Many thanks for any feedback & best regards,
Dorian

The firmware of the controller is old.  I'd recommend upgrade to either 8.0.133.0 or 8.1.131.0 and see if the upgrade improves the performance.

Thanks, will try to do that and report back.

Thanks for you reply. I'm not sure what exactly you mean by trying DCA. DCA is currently set to Automatic with an interval of one hour. Should I set it to "Freeze"?
