I have created an SSID called hotspot in the wireless lan controller. The clients when it connect , gets the ip address 192.168.0.x which is good but it shows as " no internet access " when i browse.  I see the in the wlc ,clients even my phone is  getting ip but cannot access internet. Also just letting you know that i have disabled flexconnect for this SSid in the virtual wlc.  Any help is much appreciated appreciated

Forget about wireless, if you assign 192.168.0.x to your laptop & connect it using wire, do you have internet access with that IP?

As long as you get connected to AP & client gets the IP address, WiFi is working. Check as part of DHCP options, you provide DNS server details to resolve names to ip address

Yes Rasika, when i wire to modem im able to access internet.

Infact i have two controllers,  wlc and virtual wlc. The hotspot ssid configured in wlc works fine, clients are able to access internet . But the ssid that i configured in the the virtual wlc is the problem. Clients get Ip but no internet.

I checked the client ip adress and the dns shows 8.8.8.8.

Does the wireless client has a default gateway and DNS? if they do, if the SSID configured as local or flexconnect? if the SSID is configured on local mode, then check on the VM that promiscuous mode is enabled, if that's disable, the VM drops the traffic from the wireless clients, follow the steps in the link below to find the promiscuous mode:

https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/wireless/technology/mesh/8-2/b_Virtual_Wireless_LAN_Controller_Deployment_Guide_8-2.html

Client IP details:

IPV4 : 192.168.0.93

255.255.255.0

GW : 192.168.0.1

DHCP : 1.1.1.1

DNS: 8.8.8.8 , 4.4.4.4

SSID is configured as local  and when I enabled promiscuous mode for the virtual adaptor in VM , the clients stopped getting DHCP getting APIPA- 169.  So I moved to back promiscuous mode reject.
