Hello Sukant,

Yes you need a wireless tool like Airmagnet or Ekahau to do so.

As for me I am using Airmagnet and this is quite usefull to achieve your goal.

Hi

You need to use a site survey tool. Some of them can integrate with GPS and thus give you very good information.

But even those who dont, can do the job as you have to feed the tool with a map from the location with the correct measurements.

Coverage distance is a relative subject as it depends on the receiver sensitivity but usually you can get -70 dBm at 100 meters away in outdoor are with free line of site.

-If I helped you somehow, please, rate it as useful.-

Use any wireless clients that has both 2.4 & 5.0 Ghz radio.

If flushed with cash, get an Airmagnet/Netscout Aircheck G2.

Install the AP at the location. Make sure the height and orientation is the correct one and power up the AP. Walk the signal until you get to the distance and speed of the wireless.
