The emergency code on the AireOS controller is the one received when manufactured, and this is the most stable one at that time. Why do you want to update it? Just in case you need to upgrade it, you need to check the FUS version from your controller. Check replies from @Rasika Nayanajith and @Sandeep Choudhary in this post

When you upgrade code on the AireOS controller, the current one is moved to the secondary boot partition (check with "show boot") so if something happen during code upgrade, you can boot with the previous one. Or you can swap to the secondary image with the command "config boot <primary/backup>"

I never worry about that.  Only with the older model controllers like the 5508, I would make sure the FUS image is up to date.  The 3504, just upgrade to the version you want and that is it.

thanks for reply

so i thought we have to upgrade Emergency Image Version too after upgrade IOS and test it well.

i have another request

after upgrade IOS for WLC do i have to make any change for APs ? i thought it take already from WLC too, am i right?

Thant's correct, AP download new image from WLC after upgrade.

As firmware upgrade is disruptive for both WLC and APs plan it for OoB hours.

thanks a lot for all of you

Keep in mind also, the primary image is really all I care about.  I only care about the backup image when upgrading in case I want to revert back.  You can see that your backup image is the same as your primary, which tells you that if you wanted to revert back, you would have to upload the image back to the controller.  Its nice to have the ability to have two images, because at times, the primary might get corrupted and then you can swap the image and reboot.  I have only had the primary image for some reason get corrupted in a couple controllers out our hundreds.  You probably will never run into that issue, but at least you know other ways you can utilize that backup image.

Back to @Leo Laohoo's question which you ignored!  What models of APs are you using?  If you have 2800/3800/4800/1562/6300 then you should be aware that 8.10.181.0 has a serious (Severity: 1 Catastrophic) regression bug which affected many users.  Requires upgrade to 8.10.181.3.  See the links in my signature below.

Hi rich

thanks for your reply, first I did not ignore provide AP model , I was thinking it is model so I type 3504 , anyway AP Model is AIR-AP1852I-I-K9

My question is about emergency image how to backup , anyway I will check your references and back to you

thanks again

8.10.183.0 is about to come out.  I suspect next week.

Dear Leo,

i used 8.10.180.0 not 8.10.183.0
