If the OS running on my 2504 is not listed in the Deferred code on the download page then it's OK right?

Seems like a dumb question,  but it is code from 2011, and yet isn't listed in the group of deferred codes on the download page.  Hard to urge someone to do a code upgrade if there isn't a rock solid reason to upgrade.

BTW code version is 7.0.220.0 for a Cisco 2504 WLAN controller.

Hard to urge someone to do a code upgrade if there isn't a rock solid reason to upgrade.

How about new features, stability, bug fixes, security vulnerabilities as reasons?

The main reason why a lot of people are (quietly) so reluctant to upgrade because, rightfully so, they're afraid the upgrade will break something (and they don't know how to fix it).

When it comes to wireless, it pays to regularly upgrade the firmware of the controllers.  This is so evident with features being enabled by wireless clients.  The WLC is running an old code (very) and may, in some cases, cause issues with new smartphones/tablets and netbooks which may have far-newer OS and may not be compatible with the firmware of the WLC.

Hi William,

The code is not listed in deffred list and can be used.

I second to what Rasika said and its always good to keep the wireless infrastructure upgraded.

7.4.121.0 is a good code as of now. Infact we have 8.x release published as well but before upgrading make sure you check the IOS code and AP compatibility.
