Hi All,

can anyone help in telling me the steps to be taken to install AP1042N access points?

Situation: I have a store where there is already installed an AP1042N. In the back of the building there is no wireless signal. I want to install a second access point to extend my range; How can I do this?

hello,

how you old ap is connected? with LAN switch or direct with internet modem (DSL Modem)?

describe you network snario? like how many wireless ssids and vlan you have there?

if stand alone than you need to get the configuration backup file from the old one and configur the new ap as same of that,

just you need to change the interface BVI1's ip addresses for mgmt purpose.

let me know if this helped you out.

thanks

The old one is connected directly to the DSL modem (only 1 SSID).

So if the second one is not connected with ethernet; it is sufficient to copy the config + provide an overlap?

You can configure it as root AP with reasonable overlap with the adjacent AP.

for this series of APs the best if to ceiling mount the AP.

You might configure it as repeater if you don't have cable run to reach that area given that the overlap percentage should be 50% with the adjacent AP.
