I've upgraded my 1220 to ios 12.2.11-JA per the converstion tool instructions and I have it working properly, so is it now possible to now load the latest 12.2.11-JA1 on the upgraded 1220 as I would an original-ios model 1210 or 1230? thanks, mike.

YES.
You have now a fully working IOS-AP. No rollback to Vx-Works possible.
Theres is no functionality difference between "original" IOS and "upgraded" IOS or hardware.
